Immediate Goals
Promoting documentary cinematographers as essential collaborative partners in the storytelling process.
Developing a working document of documentary industry standards/recommendations.
Creating an internal directory of cinematographers, as a resource for both emerging and established DPs to connect and consult with one another. The Alliance will use this data to create a public demographic breakdown of our members in order to maintain transparency and encourage the participation and hiring of Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC); women, gender non-conforming, and LGBTQIA+ persons.
Ongoing Goals
Holding meetings and gatherings that address issues in career development and sustainability, networking, representation, and opportunities.
Establishing a mentorship program for emerging DPs to connect with more established members.
Working toward gender and racial parity for wages.
Pushing for a healthier and more equitable work environment to foster better work-life balance.
Working with other branches in the documentary field to establish a code of conduct to address concerns and grievances surrounding abuse and sexual and racial misconduct.
Participate in industry conversations surrounding accountability, ethics and extractive filmmaking practices.
